our air exchanger started dripping water from the hinge !
hinge is on the same side as the 1/2 tubing for draining.
anyone ever have that problem ?

I've seen it. Three options:
a) The unit isn't level and it tipped towards the door
b) the tubing is blocked; this could be just inside the drain on the
unit or in the join to the sanitary drain (if you're using one) unless
you can see it in the tubing
c) could be really, really damp in you house - been cooking a lot of
turkey lately ;-)

My money is on this one as the unit's interior is designed to channel
moisture towards the drainage tube. That is, unless the OP has found
someway to suspend gravity :o)

Even with excessive dampness (short of submerging the unit :o), it
still should channel all moisture to the drain tube.

To the OP....

The unit must be level left to right, and front to back for it to
drain properly. I had the exact same issue a few years back.
Unbeknownst to me, the house had "settled" just enough to mess with
the flow. Placed a level on it, made the needed adjustment(s) and
it's been perfect since.

As an aside, does anyone know where to purchase the HEPA filters and
Pre-filter for Venmar units? I originally purchase my HEPA HRV at
Kent as was picking them up there, as well as Home Depot. Both places
no longer carry these and Venmar will not sell to the common man; they
will sell to authorized wholesalers (who won't sell to the common man
:o)

Kent's continue to sell the units and installation packages... Folks
sure are going to be angry in 6 months when they go back to pick up a
filter.

Thomas

I have always purchased 3M Filtreat (sp?) and have them cover the stock
filters *before* the heat exchanger core and that seems to do the job.
I change them every three months. For extra filtering I've cut out the
blue filter sheets into circles and placed them into the ducts, just
before the defusers, in each room. Amazing how much "junk" is trapped
in the exhausts in the kitchen, bathrooms.
