Just wondering has anyone heard any rumors on what band is going to be
at this show. The story I got so far is that it was supposed to be
Wolfmother but they backed out or something, so its not them. Any
ideas or rumors out there?

Wolfmother is playing in San Francisco that night. So yeah, 100%
chance it's not them.

It's probably not a 'huge' band or they woulda released the name by
now.

Exactly. I can only assume at this point its going to be someone
pretty crappy.

I also heard that they had alice in chains and the offspring lined up
after wolfmother backed out, but they backed out as well. Havn't
heard anything else though. Hopefully it ends up being someone good.

I've heard stone temple pilots, but, of course its just a rumour.

When is the show anyways? STP are on tour in canada, and will be in
Halifax on nov 24th.

That would be deadly. The show is on October 24th, and STP don't have
a concert then, although they're in the US around then. Still
possible.

I figure there should be some good post on here on the 25th then,
saying things like "I can't believe they hyped this concert up so
much, and then it was only (insert name of washed up Canadian band who
hasn't had a hit since MuchMusic debuted)".

Much like the second Molson Canadian blind date years ago - first one
was Sheryl Crow which granted was fairly huge at the time. But the
second one at the Majestic when the rumours were everything from GnR
to AcDC to Metallica. One guy knew from a "very reliable source" that
it was Bon Jovi. Then it turned out to be Larry Gowan with just his
piano.

Hahaha, that's awesome.

That being said, I saw Bon Jovi in GFW back in '95, and they were
quite enjoyable, even if you're not a fan of their music.

If its October 24th, then I doubt its STP.

I have no idea.

I don't know why people even bother a) listening to those rumors, or
b) repeating them.

Every time there's going to be a concert here, you can rest assured
there are people going around spouting off about how they heard from a
"reliable source" that "X" band is coming to town. And every time it's
complete BS.

What's your point, this is a discussion group. No one is claiming
fact, people are just throwing around things they heard. If you don't
like it, don't read the thread.

> What's your point

I was more so commenting on things I have heard people say over the
years about concerts; and not so much what anyone here had said.

I'm reading this thread because maybe someone DOES have some valuable
information, and when someone throws out an idea like "hey, I heard it
was going to be wolf mother", then maybe, just maybe, there's some
truth to that.

But when I hear people saying "I heard it's Metallica" or "I heard
it's the Red Hot Chilli Peppers", I know that's complete non-sense
(and I've heard it all over the years. At one point or another, almost
every major musical act was "supposedly" coming here). However, given
St. John's resume for concerts, common sense would tell you that none
of those big names are coming here, so why even waste time with what
are obviously untrue rumors.

True enough. I know for sure that Wolfmother were originally
announced, but something must've happened since they've booked another
date. I'm just hoping it's going to be someone half decent at least.

Well, I was replying to the OP's original question, which was:

Just to let you know, the concert has been postponed. The concert is
going to occur at a date announced sometime soon I believe.
