Bought two laptops for the kids for xmas and something told me to boot
them up and make sure they were working , When I did I noticed that both of
them were used ....Both had photos and music on them as well as names in msn
.....Needless to say they are both being returned today .......So if anyone
has bought or is thinking of buying from walmart be sure to boot them up and
make sure they were used .

We were advised by one worker at walmart after we returned an item for the
second time as it seemed previously used that when an item is returned and
nothing seems to be wrong with it, they put it back on the shelf. One
reason why i stay aware from walmart for electronics

Reminds me of when I was shopping for a cordless phone.
I opened a few and found that some had dirt on the handset and one even had
f*cking ear wax.
That's just wrong for so many reasons

Walmart better change their policies on this. With privacy
regulations in Canada now, they could get into some serious hot water
by re-selling laptops/computers with private information on them.

When I worked at Future Shop, it was mandatory that whatever was
returned was sent back to the tech room for a full diagnostics and to
do a secure wipe of the hard drive before re-loading the factory
image. As with any process, some did slip through the cracks from
time to time, but, it was a very important issue and was stressed
endlessly.

Obviously Walmart doesn't have any sort of technical department, so
they have no one there to wipe out these returns. By all rights,
WalMart should send all returned Laptops/Computers to a central
location for diagnostic/wipe/reload. It may cost a bit of money, but
would probably be much less than what a law-suit would cost.

I should have said "before I opened it in the store"
Thankfully I didn't buy a dirty used phone.
