I have a basement window I would like to secure...motion detectors may not
work as this is a bedroom and the person sleeping there moves alot. Pointing
it at the window itself will not work as sometimes the window is open during
the night when its hot. The wind moves the blinds and BEEEP! its set off. An
infrared beam of some sort would be ideal. Any suggestions at all? any?

Please don't suggest ADT....I have my reasons not to go with a commerical
home security system.

Thanks

A dog.

Bars on the window.

Print off some ATD stickers and stick them on your windows.

It'd be cheaper to get ADT and a phone line.

I'd prefer not to turn this room into a jail cell. It would backfire if one
needed to escape due to a fire.

Yes, that will alert me to a break-in. "Gee...the sticker is gone! so is my
glass window? wait, there it is, all over my floor. I think I will turn on
the TV....hmmm, the TV is gone. So are my clean undies I washed the night
before."

I'll give you an E for Effort.

P.S. are they selling beer tickets at that car show? How does one drink a
beer ticket? squeeze it? suck on it? LOL

Putting stickers on a window stating that you have a specific
company's secutiry system in your home or work when in fact you dont
have one is a form of fraud and you can be charged, call adt and they
will tell you.
We have a security system from them, we have sensors on two doors and
we can set the alarm in the night time so only the door sensors are
active and not the motion detector. I'm sure you can get the same
fordoors and windows, my advice would be to do it the right way and
check with a security company about different options. Ours costs 24
bucks a month. (its worth the money for peace of mind). We were told
that adt does checks on people who have stickers, and if you "print"
off a sticker and tape it on your window you basically telling any
wouldbe their (after they finish laughing) that you dont have a
security system. The stickers are very noticable and most people know
what they look like.
Do it the right way and you will have less trouble either way
Good luck

How about motion sensing lights OUTSIDE the window? Might not alert you to a
break in, but would sure scare the heck out of anyone who shouldn't be
there.

Of course, you could always dig a big hole and cover it with a tarp... ;)

Of courst if they're ATD stickers insted of ADT stickers I would say
you're safe ;-)

And if they fall in and break a nail, I could be sued. All jokes aside.
Isn't that ironic?

"Well, Your Honour, I was trying to break into this guy's house..there he is
sitting there Your Honour! and I fell into a hole and broke my leg...a hole
he purposely dug as a booby trap! Justice your honour...I want justice!"

In Texas you can shoot your spouse if you catch him/her sleeping in your bed
with someone else LOL Not sure of the accuracy of this, but there are
legal ways to shoot people in Texas.

Cheers

I don't have a phone line for the system to hook up to...I guess you don't
need one. And I don't want them drilling holes throughout my house. There is
little 'free space' such as basements and crawl spaces to run wires.

Cheers
