I keep being called a floozie or fleusy or whatever spelling Steve uses
in a particular posting. I think I know what it is but am not quite
sure? Could somebody tell me where Gower Street is? I am apparently
supposed to know. I have also been doing some inquiring in Carbonear
this afternoon regarding the Justin character (or Carbonearian).
Interesting.

did Steve actually leave out the words "f*uckin" and "diddler" ??
My goodness it's evolving... maybe it'll stand upright and figure out that
the thumb is a great tool for grabbing and holding things, instead of just
having it stuck up it's ass all day.

No, not a Nfld. expression. Have you not seen the commercial with the
little kids, one of whom says "My sister's a floozie." ?

I've heard the word it in all 6 provinces where I've lived (no, not applied
to me). It dates back to 1911 according to Merriam-Webster & its origin is
unknown.

Why are you inquiring on somebody , Justin from Carbnear, who you think may
be a poster on this group named Steve? I think that is inappropriate, and
maybe a witchhunt as Steve has suggested. You are taking this all a little
to far as he is not asking to be a guest in your home like Debbie chick. So
the next person who says something you dont like are you going to track down
their family and identity? Maybe he is really from bell Iland , a con man
looking to visit Nl.

I had suspicions that is what it meant but I wasn't totally sure.
Steve/Justin stands on his soap box and claims to preach the truth. He
doesn't like anybody speaking up against Debbie Rothman. He considers
them untruths. What about his untruth? I have been happily married for
almost 19 years. Never once have I cheated on my husband or even come
close to stepping over the line. The hosts who spoke out against Debbie
Rothman were ridiculed by Steve/Justin yet he has never met me and calls
me a whore. Who is the hypocrite now. My last word concerning this
pathetic individual. My brother says DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.

bother to take time to read all the threads...THEN COMMENT. In the
meantime stop babbling..

No you didnt answer my question. Why are YOU going and asking questions
about him and his identity in Caronear? I was not rude to you when I asked
my question and I do not feel it was neccesary to say I was babbling. You
stated in your post that you have been married for nineteen years therefore
I am to assume that you are my elder and hopefully have many years of
valuable life experience. Asking people about who this guy is and about his
identity is inappropriate as he is not asking to stay at your home or meet
you etc. This man may have a job, reputation etc and is not present to
defend himself when you are going about town investigating. I am sure if
you have children you would not allow them to tell someone to stop babbling.

Under normal circumstances I would have to agree with you but seeing has
the individual has been calling me a whore for several days now I don't
believe he deserves the respect I would normally give a person. Yes I
would tell my child to tell somebody to stop babbling if they had
tunnelvision. I'm sure if it were you who had been called a whore for
days on end (and I may add that I haven't been reponding to the insults)
you may have a different outlook.

Yes now I understand why you were asking around about him and I am sorry he
has been calling you those ridiculous names. He was the one who made it
personal. He has no right to call you those names, and I am sure that nobdy
is listening to that slander.I guess that is why I forgot he was adressing
you in that matter.

I envy you your Oxford. I went looking for "origin of words" or some such
that came a few months ago, but I've got too many books all over the house
to lay my hands on that one easily. But I thought it was interesting that
my 1967 edition of "Dictionary of Canadian English -- The Senior
Dictionary" has this to say: "? variant of Flossie, a nickname for
Florence".

Yes, we know, we were just trying to figure out how the word originated. We
only found out that it dates back to the early 1900 (dates given anywhere
from 1905-1911) but nothing about how it developed.

Doubt that the subjects of your study would have the information we seek,
OTOH I'm sure you'd have fun doing the research - fruitless though it may
prove to be.
