We moved our hd tv from one corner of our living room to another. Our BEV
worked fine for several hours and then suddenly we got an error on the
screen "004". Now we have no channels, just this error whenever we try to
change the channel. Husband checked the coax and other connections and they
appear fine (however, it's definitely possible that we messed something up
in the move). Did the normal troubleshooting (holding in the power button,
check switch, etc) I called BEV and after some more troubleshooting, the
rep wanted to send a technician for a $75 charge. I'm fairly certain the
issue is on our end but I don't really want to spend $75 to fix it when it
might be something very simple.

Is there anyone here that could help my husband figure it out? There is a
cable coming in from the wall (which I am sure comes from the dish. This
was directly connected to the back of the receiver. This was added when we
called Bell to have the HD PVR added. There is also another one that came
in from outside which was also connected to the receiver. The first cable
that I mentioned is now connected to another length of cable via a connector
of some sort because it wasn't long enough to reach the other side of the
room. (For some reason, the technician did not put the additional cable in
the same corner as the original one, they put it in the opposite corner)
Could this connector be the problem? I think my husband tried a different
connector with no results.

I hope this explains it well enough!

Please email Ted at te...@nf.sympatico.ca with any help you can offer!

Thanks!

Should I be posting this in nf.wanted instead?

Nf.wanted if for "ads." Buying and selling stuff....so unless you want
to pay for the information...this is the place to be.

Just had a PVR installed last week. I just checked the manual. 003,004
error " the wrong type of coaxial cable may be used in the system, or
the cable run length may be to long. Or, there may be a problem with
the multi-dish switch." Solution---"Make sure the system uses RG6
coaxial cable;if not call your dealer or installer. Check the dish-
to- receiver cable length. If it is a Legacy system, it should not be
more than 100 ft. Check the coaxial cables and their connections to
and from the multidish switch. Make sure that all required cables are
in place, and check that all cables connections are tight and dry(for
outdoor cables). If this does not work,do the check switch test" .....
Hope this works for you.
