Alison Mews and I did the Irish Loop on Tuesday looking for signs of capelin, There were signs of capelin at two locations only - Witless Bay (Lower Pond beach) and Ferryland (main beach). There were flocks of kittiwakes and other gulls feeding at these locations There was first summer LAUGHING GULL at Ferryland on the rocks off the end of Barkhouse Road. There was no sign of capelin at Portugal Cove South, St Vincents or Pt LaHaye. No shearwaters. It was foggy at St Shotts and Pt LaHaye but good visibility at St Vincents.

3 female Harlequin Ducks were on the rocks near the road near St Shotts wharf and 46 Common Eiders ( mainly sub adult males) were around the St Shotts wharf
