The Blue Jays are back. I haven't seen any all winter but there were 4
in my backyard this morning. Another new addition is the presence of 2
Black Capped Chickadees. Up til now I have only ever seen one for
fleeting moments at a time, but these two are hanging around. Perhaps
they'll be the first residents in a birdhouse I set out last year.

So today, Tuesday Mar 9 (7-8am)

4 BlueJays
2 Black Capped Chickadee
40 American Goldfinch
10 Juncos
15 Starlings
6 Herrings Gulls
1 Greater Black Backed Gull
3 Crows

Monday, Mar 8

1 BC Chickadee
25 Am Goldfinch
7 Juncos
300 Starlings
3 crows

Sunday, Mar 7

40 Juncos
3 Am. Goldfinch
2 Red Crossbills (female)

The jays are indeed back in CBS - had three at our feeder in Upper
Gullies this a.m. In the last few days, we've had the juncos and a
nuthatch here, and the chipping sparrow is still around - have seen it
several times over the weekend.

Re starlings - yesterday, we saw a large flock sweeping back and forth
above the CBS highway near the Paint Shop - this seems to be a
favoured area for them...

Interesting - we have had Blue Jays visiting our feeders off and on
all winter long. Have not, for example though, seen a Purple Finch for
months. Very strange year for feeder birds.
