Just saw two photos of the two egrets at Fairhaven. The lores on one bird look dark and apparently one or both birds have two plume feathers extending back from the head. So, perhaps they are Little Egrets.

The birds have been moving around a little bit but are ususlly along or near the shoreline right in town.

One of the egrets was present 8:00 this morning. It is a Little Egret.

No reports so far this morning ...

For the record, only one of the egrets was seen yesterday (to my knowledge) and confirmed to be a Little Egret. The other bird is presumably the same species, but it would be great to have that confirmed. Local residents say they have been present since ~Sunday May 12, sometimes moving up a small river to feed/rest out of sight and not always seen together. One bird (presumably not the one photographed yesterday) was described as drooping its wing when standing, although it can fly fine.

The egret was quite wary when we were there, flying away (though never far) if we got out of the car and sometimes even if it the car pulled in while it was standing closer to shore. Pretty much the only way to photograph it was through the car window.

Given that no one has posted detailed directions to the bird, is it safe to assume that the bird is conspicuous in the harbour?
