Just been around Kenny’s Pond and there’s an odd duck hanging around with the Mallards. Thought it was a ring-necked at first but it’s small and got a very obvious tuft off the back of the head. Watched it for several minutes around 2:00pm. Anyone else seen to confirm? Link attached has photos. Poor quality, but you can see it pretty clearly. Looks like it’s going into eclipse plumage.

Quite good enough to confirm your ID!

Was there any sign of wing damage? A few years ago a female stayed on Burton's Pond all summer, but she had a damaged wing - which seemed to be repaired with the fall moult.

Nothing that was obvious. I watched him for a while, he dove a number of times and did a bit of flapping on the surface but seemed pretty normal.
