This Wednesday, April 10, 9--11:30 p.m., at Folk Night at The Ship Pub in
St. John’s, Newfoundland, the headliner is Allan Ricketts.

There is an open mic set between the two headline sets and open mic
performers get a free Quidi Vidi beer. Also there are door prizes, which are
usually $10 gift certificates donated by sponsors. Also the kitchen is open
until 8 p.m. (but they may take the last order at 7:45 p.m.). Cover is only
$5.

Here is the blurb from the Facebook event page, which is
https://www.facebook.com/events/151649132434749/

“Allan Ricketts is originally from Torbay, but is currently living in New
Brunswick. Allan is a traditional musician and visual artist. He is a singer
and multi-instrumentalist proficient on the octave mandolin, banjo,
accordion, and pedal steel.

Allan began his career as a very young performer on the Newfoundland Folk
Festival's Neil Murray stage and went on to a life of music, releasing two
very well received cds: 2005's `Allan Ricketts' and 2009's `Rivers' which
received an ECMA nomination for Roots Traditional recording of the Year.

He has appeared on a wide array of festival and concert stages and is
currently preparing his third release.“

Coming up:
April 17: Dave Mundy and Callum Latta (acoustic blues)
April 24: tradition jam session hosted by fiddler Rosemary Lawton
