Play is largely an album of instrumentals, though Paisley sings five duets with other vocalists, including B.B. King, Buck Owens, and Keith Urban.[11][12] King and Urban both play guitar on their respective duet tracks. Another track, "Cluster Pluck", features James Burton, Vince Gill, Albert Lee, John Jorgenson, Brent Mason, Redd Volkaert and Steve Wariner.[11] The Buck Owens duet is a song which Owens co-wrote.[13] It is not strictly a country music record, featuring jazz guitar and a song described by Paisley as "very heavy metal."[14] The final track, "Waitin' on a Woman", was first included on Paisley's 2005 album Time Well Wasted, and was later re-recorded as a bonus track to 2007's 5th Gear, from which it was released as a single. The version featured here includes guest vocals from Andy Griffith, and is the version used in the song's music video.
"Start a Band", the only single from the album, was released in September 2008. It is a collaboration with Keith Urban, who sings duet vocals and plays second lead guitar on it, and it reached Number One on the Billboard country singles charts in January 2009. At the 51st Grammy Awards, "Cluster Pluck" won the Grammy for Best Country Instrumental Performance, which was awarded to all of the guitarists featured.[15]
BP: I had a great time. I got to finally jam with Eric Johnson on a tune, which was one of the many highlights of the night for me. I got to meet one of my new favorites, which is Johnny A, who is a tremendous player. I loved hearing him. Getting to see Seymour Duncan play, and Steve Cropper, the list goes on and on.
Who said less is more? If it's done right, sometimes MORE is MORE! Paisley's show is a tastefully coordinated audio-video extravaganza from start to finish; complete with lasers, integrated apps and digital HD displays. Where some performers use these tools to cover up a mediocre performance or distract from less than impressive vocals, the integration of digital features enhance Brad's artful mastery of his craft and never overshadow. The use of technology does not come off as novelty. It's feels more like 'seasoning' for Paisley's performance. The glitz and gadgets enhance the experience - bringing the listener into the show in ways that prove his presence there is a desire not a chore.
Paisley has been consistently playing the DFW area for several years and his concerts continue to be worth the entertainment dollar, raising the game each year. Paisley proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with, keeping the crowd on their feet for the entire show and leaving the fans topped off until his next trip through town.
But lately, the Grammy Award-winner made his shows even more memorable for a select few lucky fans. Dating back to the start of the 2016 Life Amplified world tour, Paisley has given an audience member at each show the guitar off his back, picking one child out of the crowd and passing his just-played Fender Paramount acoustic guitar to them.

Country rock superstar Brad Paisley will play the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on June 14 in his summer tour, with opening acts Chris Young and Lee Brice. The concert will start at 7 p.m., with amphitheater doors opening at 6.
Challenged by Dee Jay Silver, who played snippets of the tracks onstage before a raucous crowd in Camden, N.J., recently, Paisley flawlessly tore through the riffs from Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Sweet Home Alabama,' AC/DC's 'Black in Black,' the Eagles' 'Life in the Fast Lane,' Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water,' Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger,' Eric Clapton's 'Cocaine,' Guns N' Roses' 'Sweet Child of Mine' (which received the biggest ovation) and Dire Straits' 'Money for Nothing' before he launched into a spirited, full-length take on 'Hot for Teacher.'
Paisley and band don't repeat David Lee Roth's spoken-word come-ons, but the song's sing-along chorus shows just how much passion these country guys have for music outside of their chosen musical genre. At one point, Paisley also played the familiar opening moments from Eddie Van Halen's Michael Jackson collaboration, 'Beat It.'
