The title of the game is a reference to the quote by the Swedish diplomat Dag Hammarskjöld: "The longest journey is the journey inward, for he who has chosen his destiny has started upon his quest for the source of his being."[citation needed] Other inspirations for the game included Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, Neil Gaiman's The Sandman and The Books of Magic, Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Joss Whedon's writing in general.[7]
Looking through the games, which have been on my watchlist for too long I finally decided to start the series, that for years was awed for its approach to telling a story, but with a relaease of the final installment was kinda forgotten. And now, after I finished my personal journey, I can surely say it's undeserved - the series is a monument to how the story in the games should be presented, even though every installment used different tools and was a member of different videogame genre. No spoilers, and I will try to be as vague as possible.
