At the front desk I was warmly welcomed and checked in by the front desk manager personally. After getting a short inspection of the whole property, the concierge brought be to my lovely deluxe room. We went up with this amazing elevator which is literally the heart of the hotel. The black iron of the elevator which optically takes you back to the thirties matched awesomely to the staircase which was all out of marble.
I already fell in love with my room after opening the dark wooden door and entering the spacious deluxe bedroom. It was designed in a very stylish way with decent colors and a wonderful old parquet floor. The first thing you see when you enter is the heavenly king size bed. A little bit further back was a little working space with a small desk. Right behind was the bathroom which was equipped with a big bathtub. The bathroom was facing the street where you had a lovely view into the green because the hotel was next to the parque forestal.
The Luciano K hotel is definitely more like an inner city hideaway than one of those lively and busy city bunkers. The hotel was lovely designed with so many details perfectly matching the city and its architecture. Starting with those colorful tiles which are so topical for Chile, to the bar which was more like a comfortable living room. The whole place gave me the feeling to be at home rather than being in a hotel.
In the morning after a heavenly night I was ready for the day and wanted to start my day with a light breakfast - I did expect a small breakfast buffet. But nevertheless they surprised me with a big choice in the restaurant. They offered fresh eggs different fresh juices, home made pastries and cakes fresh fruit salads yogurts and home made jams. Everything was so amazing and delicious.
For me it was the perfect place to start my big adventure in Chile where I am going to stay for approximately six month. Their reputation is really great within the country and I can confirm they live up to this high standards. Every single staff member was beyond friendly and welcoming. They went the extra mile and it's wonderful to see hotels that still are flawless!
The building is a cultural jewel in the heart of the gastronomic Lastarria neighbourhood of Santiago, originally designed by the architect Luciano Kulczewski in the 1920s. At the time, it was the tallest building in Chile, the first with a lift and central heating. The glamour and elegance of the 1920s is showcased in the architecture and design, accompanied by the highest levels of comfort and technology you will find at the best international hotels.
The hotel has 38 rooms, divided into superior, deluxe and suite categories. All of the rooms have features from the original building, which have been lovingly restored, such as the parquet flooring and glass bathroom doors. While we preferred the rooms on the Parque Forestal side, the triple-glazed windows block out any noise from Alameda.

This remarkable hotel beckons the coming of a whole new era for Santiago. Though it has had many a refurb since its former life as Chile's tallest building, the prevalence of original features such as the marble and wrought iron staircase, convey a strong sense of the history attached to the building. The chic bar downstairs would be a draw in its own right, but it must contend with rooftop cocktails overlooking the city and the magnificent park just opposite. The suites are charming, we loved the warm wood parquet floors and deep freestanding bathtub in ours. This is a destination in itself, and it just happens to sit in the most up and coming bohemian district if Santiago.
