yum plugin with staging profiles

Hi,

Just want to clarify what the current options are for using the yum plugin with Nexus Pro staging profiles.  It seems the latest Sonatype-supported plugin (2.3+) is a bit crippled due to the missing Maven2Yum templates.  https://issues.sonatype.org/browse/NEXUS-5507 doesn't seem to have much traction.  

Is the only option to downgrade to nexus 2.2 and use the pre-sonatype 2.2 yum plugin?  Is there any way to restore Maven2Yum manually or any other creative solutions out there (could createrepo be run externally from cron)?  Or is everyone just stuck on Nexus <2.2 for the past 6 months?
