I purchased a copy of Photoshop Elements 2021 from Amazon and was sent an Authorization Code by email. I tried to install the product, after it had downloaded. I managed eventually to install it on my iMac but when I went to run photoshop it said I neede to authorize it. I had been given a serial munber when I logged into the Adobe website and entered the activation code. I tried entering the serial number that Adobe had given me but it comes back with "The serial number you entered is invalid" even though I got the serial. number from Adobe. Please can anybody help, I did pay Amazon 86.99 for the product and I'm baffled.
Thanks Bob, after spending all morning and quite a lot of the afternoon on the problem with an agent, I decided to go for the refund. I was told to delete all the enties in my hosts file and try the install again, but Apples advice is to ensure you leave the 127.0.0.1 loopback entry because the iMac needs it when it reboots. I'm not very confident about the refund at this time. but I'll give it a week and see what happens. If I don't hear anything I will follow your link and try again. Thanks for your help.
I was concerned because Amazon had already made it clear that the product could not be returned. I asked the Amazon customer care centre to call me and they did. I explained in depth what had occured and Amazon were good enough to issue a refund for the Photoshop Elements 2021 software.
The interesting thing is, if I run the software on a trial basis then it works fine, the problem just appears to be with the serial number that was generated when I entered the authorizatoion key into Adobe's serial number generator.
For past two days, I get this error and some of PS function don't work: "There is a problem with Generator. Please quit Photoshop and try again. If the problem persists, remove any third-party plug-ins or try reinstalling Photoshop."
I've restarted PS, I've restarted my machine, and I've udpated the software. I still get this same error message. I can't find a support ticket system for monthly subscription users, is there one? Please assist. Sincerely, VT
Me too had the same issue and tried almost everything to get rid of the warning message for which the results were negative after every attempt. But, Finally when I had an accidental glance to my notifications panel, which is at the bottom most right corner of the task bar in Win 10 I got the solution for it.
That was helpful, but not the fix. I see TWO PS icons in my Creative Cloud Desktop app ... I have been opening the first one, the second on is v.21.0.2. I don't know why there are two, to be honest. So, I am now opening the correct PS icon and have pinned that one to my taskbar. Unfortunately, I get the same error even w/this v21 version of PS.
Following the instructions at this link, for Solution #1 I added a folder "Adobe Photoshop CC 2020" as I saw already Adobe Photoshop CC 2018, Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 and Adobe Photoshop 2020 ... just to play it safe though I doubt it needed added.
I uninstalled all adobe programs, removed out all the directories and removed all the appdata directories, did a clean install of photoshop and it still occurs. Yes I have the latest release of photoshop.
Hey Everyone - I upgraded to Photoshop 21.0.2 and have trouble with getting a "Generator" bug. It is impacting my ability to export and print from Photoshop. I downgraded back to 21.0.1 and the problem goes away. Anyone else having this issue?
when you try to do an export it fails with the infamous pop-up. When you revisit the preferences, it appears that the "Enable Generator" has been enabled again. So the export is the culprit for setting it back. Which is somewhat unexpected.
I have the exact same problem, went as far as deleting EVERYTHING and doing a clean install, still have the same problem. Unable to export any images and it keeps reselecting the use generator checkbox. This doesn't look like an isolated problem, hope Adobe fixes their software so I can get back to work.
Well if you don't report it as a bug how is Adobe going to know about it, this is a user forum and Adobe don't really participate here, so posting on the feedback forum will get their attention. I don't experience the issue on both PC's that I have with Windows 10 and Photoshop 20.0.3 and it's not affecting everyone
Sorry my bad. I thought that support would monitor customer complaints in THEIR forums and filter out possible bugs and use this information to fix it and prevent others from having the same issue. Or at least participate and suggest actions.
Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe for Windows and macOS. It was originally created in 1987 by Thomas and John Knoll. Since then, the software has become the most used tool for professional digital art, especially in raster graphics editing. Owing to its fame, the program's name has become genericised as a verb (e.g. "to photoshop an image", "photoshopping", and "photoshop contest")[7] although Adobe disapproves of such use.[8]
Photoshop can edit and compose raster images in multiple layers and supports masks, alpha compositing and several color models. Photoshop uses its own PSD and PSB file formats to support these features. In addition to raster graphics, Photoshop has limited abilities to edit or render text and vector graphics (especially through clipping path for the latter), as well as 3D graphics and video. Its feature set can be expanded by plug-ins; programs developed and distributed independently of Photoshop that run inside it and offer new or enhanced features.
Photoshop's naming scheme was initially based on version numbers. However, in October 2002 (following the introduction of Creative Suite branding), each new version of Photoshop was designated with "CS" plus a number; e.g., the eighth major version of Photoshop was Photoshop CS and the ninth was Photoshop CS2. Photoshop CS3 through CS6 were also distributed in two different editions: Standard and Extended. With the introduction of the Creative Cloud branding in June 2013 (and in turn, the change of the "CS" suffix to "CC"), Photoshop's licensing scheme was changed to that of software as a service subscription model. Historically, Photoshop was bundled with additional software such as Adobe ImageReady, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Device Central and Adobe Camera RAW.
Alongside Photoshop, Adobe also develops and publishes Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Lightroom, Photoshop Express, Photoshop Fix, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop Mix. As of November 2019, Adobe has also released a full version of Photoshop for the iPad, and while initially limited, Adobe plans to bring more features to Photoshop for iPad.[9] Collectively, they are branded as "The Adobe Photoshop Family".
