Hi folks, I'm looking for a decent sticky app that could work well in i3, I'm using Manjaro and at the moment I've tried sticky and xpad and I'm not happy with them as they don't work well in i3, does anyone knows a good and simple sticky notes app that could work well in i3?
Edit: I checked also gnome notes and Knotes but both install too many dependencies that I don't need.
The simpler the Feature, the more likely it is that we can consider implementation. A bare bones "Note Tile" seems pretty feasible. The issue is: How simple can we keep it and still have it be sufficiently valuable to be worth developing.
initially I thought the addon for windows Chrome called Sticky notes would work and it does a little but as soon as you touch anywhere on the Actiontiles screen the Sticky Notes will disappear. Probably easier to work in a stay on top on windows fix I just have not figured it out yet.
Then I realised I am simply over thinking this and adding a simple tile that we could type in a text message would be the best or even attach a picture to. Really the whole point of Actiontiles to keep it clean and simple.
Please describe the Feature you envision in much more detail -- "sticky note" can imply quite a lot of functionality and sub-features ... It would be super helpful if you start by describing the bare minimum that you you think would be valuable.
I think that one of the things the post it note app creators forgot is that the notes we leave on the fridge are usually for the whole family not always just for ourselves and there isn't anyway to have them appear right now on everyone in the families devices.
I can't seem to find a SIMPLE sticky note type application that lets me paste images. I don't want a complex, synced system like Evernote, just something that lets me have a sticky on the desktop with text and images. Any leads? Thanks :)
I'd like to use stickynotes_applet in Unity.. Now in Gnome, this applet gets added to a bar, then I have to click it to create a new note, and I can call preferences to have the notes stick on the desktop - which is all I need.
Obviously, as mentioned here, it will not be possible to use this applet directly in Unity; but basically, all I'd need to do is to raise the Preferences window (so as to make the notes stick), and to somehow issue a command for a new note (which would otherwise be performed by a click on the applet icon in the Gnome bar).
Desktop integration doesn't matter all that much to me - I'd run this manually from the command line gladly, as long as I get small compact notes that stay on the desktop (as long as the process is active)..
In fact, stickynotes migrated from bonobo to dbus shortly before Natty came out (in the revision Port to new libpanel-applet API); which is obvious by the replacement of the PANEL_APPLET_BONOBO_FACTORY macro with PANEL_APPLET_OUT_PROCESS_FACTORY. Arguably, if one checks out the last revision of stickynotes based on bonobo and builds it - one should also be able to use the above technique to instantiate the applet in a separate window, and run it from there, even without gnome-panel.
I would have otherwise believed, that all applets (or rather, applet developing frameworks) should have the capability to run in a separate window like that - if not for any other reason, then to facilitate debugging of applets during development. And given that some applets have command line switches for running in a separate window (both the "beginner's guide" above, and also invest-applet, feature such switches) - I hoped maybe stickynotes features such command line arguments too; however, I did grep through its source files - and alas, I cannot find any mention of command line options.
Towards the back of the book, I labeled pages to track our reading. There is one page for each child, and one page for read-alouds and Audible books. The sticky note here is to remind me of books I want to read later. Once we have read it (or at least started it), I write the title in the notebook.
I have a sheet detailing meetings with dates, times and locations lined out. What is the easiest way to add a note to the overall sheet that shares info that applies to all events? I want to essentailly add a sticky note to post my list of items to bring to each event.
You could create a simple "sticky note" webform that you can have bookmarked on your desktop, mobile device, etc., to add new notes or tasks. You can decide if new entries go to the top or bottom of sheet. When you go to the sheet, you will be able to see your "sticky note" row, comments, checkboxes, etc....You can simply delete the row when you no longer need the note.
You could easily adapt this activity for kids working on other concepts. You can use several letters, sight words, math problems, etc. and extend the activity further with sticky notes in different colors.
I chose letter N for this activity and wrote it on 10 sticky notes. I stuck each sticky note on a surface somewhere in the living room. They were in plain view, but older kids would also enjoy hunting partially hidden letters.
