"I have been using Iobit products for a good many years now. Because I am running an older machine with 6 drives, including 2 external, I find that Iobit's "Smart Defrag 8 Pro" has served me very well. Being an older machine,, my computer system tends to become fragmented quite easily. Having My "Smart Defrag 8 Pro" set to auto defrag, and running a "Defrag and Optimize" once a week, keeps my system running smooth and well. Iobit is constantly upgrading and striving to make the product even better as time goes by. I am well pleased with this product."

"I run a combination of RAID 0 SSDs and RAID 0 HDDs and use Smart Defrag Pro to analyse, defrag and keep my drives running at peak performance. As with all IObit software it is easy to install, use and very reliable. Just set it up and forget it. Smart Defrag has a very small memory foot print so it won't slow down your system. Definitely recommended!"

"As a computer repair tech I find by downloading and scanning with ASC free most common problems are resolved. When finished with a repair I usually suggest the client purchase the Pro package. Who needs a tech when you have the power of Advanced System Care Pro working your system 24-7? This is the best product a home user can buy. Thank you for making my job easier."

The first drive is an SSD, the second drive are two optical hard disks in a RAID-0 config which previously defragged without issue. Only recent changes to my computer were updating my MBs drivers. I have attempted to reinstall SD 2.7 but it didnt help the issue.

Hi there

Downloading "Smart Defrag 8 Free" by clicking on your website(the green buttons) route me through MajorGeeks - which is fine - but the download is not correct.

It arrives as "smart-defrag-setup" - with no file extension. I was reluctant to change the file myself to "smart-defrag-setup.exe" even though scanning it shows no malware - as it could still be something like a fishing link... who knows?

I downloaded "smart-defrag-setup.exe" via a link posted by Cicely in this community forum as "Smard Defrag 8" (sic) - but I'm suspicious by nature so I'm sending this feedback here, and also posting it at the forum...

If the green button on your main Smart Defrag 8 webpage is corrected to download "smart-defrag-setup.exe", I will try your new version 8.

Thanks
Supersoul

Today happened 2 more times and I started to think to some tool that could cause the problem. I looked at Smart Defrag and I saw it was working silently (as usual)... uhmmm, then I ran it at desktop and I started the defragmentation of the disk and during the process, a couple of minutes later, the system crashed and the PC restarted!

Cicely, as I wrote "In addition I ran the MS utility for the defragmentation of the disk and, once again, at a certain point the PC crashed and auto restarted (like happened with SmartDefrag", also the MS defrag generated the same crash of SD.

Please try using "Only next boot" option in Boot Time Defrag, click on No on the main GUI to activate the boot time defrag with changing to Yes, and restart the PC to see if it is working when booting.

I don't show any scheduled tasks for SD. The only thing showing is for Applesoftwareupdate. But the automatic defrag set to on & is working & I will have to see in a couple of days if the Boot Time Defrag works.

I guess that Windows Built in defragmenter will conflict with Smart Defrag, and perhaps what Smart Defrag have achieved in a week will be undo when Windows Defragmenter is exectuded by the weekly scheduled task.

I guess that Windows defrag works with a totally different approach than SmartDefrag, hence when Windows built in defragmenter weekly defrag is scheduled, ALL what was achieved with SmartDefrag will be undone and so Windows defrag and SmartDefrag will contnue to fight against each other on a weekly basis:

The above statement is the escence of this thread, windows built in defrag has a different approach than iobit's smart defrag and so even that windows defrag may show that the HDD or EHDD are fragmented, acording to iobit's smart defrag THEY ARE NO!

Awhile ago, I decided to use Smart Defrag. Advanced System Care 3 is such a great product, so I decided to give Smart Defrag a try. I analyzed my hard drive and decided to use the "deep optimize" option. After about half an hour of it doing nothing, I pressed cancel and went with "fast optimize." It began to defragment and work its magic. After a few hours, it finished.

I have had the same corruption happen when I used deep optimze... I was able to fix with norton and several other disk repair programs and a sytem restore... BUT ... now smart defrag runs very slow... I am only using "defrag only" or "analyze".. takes several days to get to 31% on analyze.

I am busy with a large project for a company and loaded a lot of data on my hard drive leaving about 100 gig free space. So I immediately went and removed about 20 gig from my hard drive. This left me with about 120 gig free space. I then run Disk Doctor. It picked up error and after reboot corrected it. I then ran Smart Defrag 2 and after that once again Disk Doctor. To my surprise Disk Doctor picked up errors again. Could it be that during defrag it moved files onto bad sectors? I rebooted and corrected these. I then removed about 110 gig from my hard drive. Removing meaning also from the recycle bin. This is where I am at the moment.

I am sure this was my problem. The files in these 8 new bad sectors was the files I were working with. I think every time I hit one of them I got the blue screen. My laptop is now very responsive and fast - just like when it was new.

Wow, I guess to keep this program on people's computers they should adjust their colors and show a colored box with the word Compressed files or files that cannot be defragged otherwise people may think that their Smart Defrag is not working properly. I call this losing customers, read on.

If I go back to this guys computer today he will not have the program any more. I just know him. He will go with Defraggler or Auslogics or just the Windows defrag. So this is a lost customer because of poorly written help files.

Hi there, my husband was running Iobits malware fighter and smart defrag on his XP SP3 PC he uninstalled them, but still smart defrag boot time keeps running at pc start up.
If you go to add/remove programs it is not listed there and he wants to remove it completly and stop it from running.

Under MSconfig - startup configeration utility its not listed there either, it runs before windows even starts right after the bios

would appreciate some assistance please

Hubby is thinking atm it might be on his H: drive from backing up his C: Drive as it only seems to run smart defrag boot time when its plugged in

It also seems to delete all his systemrestore points when it runs (yes he has made a new one before doing any of these processors)

Hello this is the husband here replying this time... I first used the ERUNT freeware to back up the registery...then I tried BitRemover and checked for each possible installation of any IOBits products...nothing then tried the VS Revo Uninstaller Pro...found no IOBits products either....when I ran the AutoRun though...under the boot execute tab it found an EXE file with SmartDefragBootime....in the C:\windows\windows32\smartdefragbootime.exe file and deleted it. I hope that will take care of it...there were some other "orphaned" files which I will clean up too.

The symptoms were that the bootime were 2 issues....one was starting before windows was and deleting or corrupting in some way files on an attacted external 2Tb HDD which would make all except for a single directory on the external HDD "disappear" or appear to...without a LAN would have thought it was worthless and lost all the data. But the data was showing up when that same 2Tb HDD was accessed through the router via the OTHER PCs so I knew it was there....tried running the HD company's repair software and also CHKDSK from windows "RUN..." but nothing helped....than I went to DOS...cmd...entered chkdsk (drive name): /f and ran it that way and after it was done and accessing the external 2Tb HDD and bingo...all the files and directories were there.

i went to another defragmenter and no longer want the smartdefragger, i uninstalled it and restarted my computer, boot time defragmenting is still on, i installed the program again, turned off boot time defragmenting, uninstalled, restarted and its still there, i want it removed please.

It throws recommendations for other programs at you at every turn. Still, it makes up for that pestering with performance that rivals most defrag programs for Windows.
