always have to read the fine print.
but facebook reading or accessing your txt msgs is expected...well for their Messenger services. The user has the option to use that to send txt msgs

I blocked that functionality as soon a it popped up a couple of versions ago.

The messenger app is what I use most. The fb app just hogs up too many resources on my phone so I have it tucked away n hibernated with damn near all permissions disabled.
