Hello everyone! I know at past meetings with the NextGen group and other meetings with the Nonprofit Resource Center, I have heard some of you speak about a program where you can keep track of past requests and foundations. What were they called? You can either email the group or email me personally at kjac...@fwchamber.org. Thanks!

Katelyn,

Yay! Thanks for using the listserv! This is exactly what we want to accomplish with this -- to be a sounding board and support base for our subscribers.

I have experience with eTapestry (http://www.etapestry.com/) and Raiser's Edge (http://www.blackbaud.com/products/fundraising/raisersedge.aspx), although each of those are pretty darn expensive. My organization can't afford it. There is open-sourced software you can get, but I'm not familiar with that.

Does anyone else want to chime in? What does your organization use?

Good luck, Katelyn!

Hi Katelyn!

For requests of this type, I always start with Tech Soup:)

Here is a link that offers a discussion of misc products:

>

And here you'll find a useful commentary on evaluation pointers to
help you discern what your org actually needs:

But then I think local: After speaking to Marilynn, I have to repeat
Andy's sentiment. Marilynn feels strongly that most products of this
nature are cost prohibitive and not necessary for organizations that
aren't managing multi-million dollar (government) grants. That said,
your org may be doing just that! Marilynn has requested that I copy
her your message to which she'll respond with her own self-created
tracking tools using excel. In your discussion with her you'll be able
to tell her what your org is actually needing in terms of tracking and
she'll go from there! Please copy the group any useful info so we can
all learn together~

Andy, what are you doing to track your grants? Perhaps Katelyn's org
could make use of or adapt something like it?

I'm not sure how many of NeXtGeners work with in development, but
hopefully you get more feedback:)

(And I'm so glad you're here!)
