Dear all, below is info on GEN-E event linked to the annual General Assembly. I'm not aware of any planned NextGEN presence as of yet, but there was talk at the last one. I don't think I'm going to attend this year (I'm trying to fly much, much, less), so maybe you feel inspired to:
Plan NextGEN's presence
Find support for it through this group, our facebook site or the Interdependent Community Sphere (all the links on our website)
Contact the GEN-E Council directly

I look forward to seeing what happens, Elliott.

Dear friends,

This is a reminder about the Grundtvig grants in 2010 for these two events, taking place in Damanhur:
  • July 6 (evening) - 11: 'Ecovillages and Sustainable Living Conference' with up to 200 participants
  • July 11-17: 'How to build a successful community' course with 30 participants, facilitated by a team from Damanhur
You can find detailed information about both events on the website: www.gen-europe.org.

The grants will be the biggest source of income for GEN-Europe in 2010 and will allow us to fund member's projects, give extra travel refunds, support the emergence of GEN-Africa and more, as was the case in 2009. And of course, isn't it great to get to go there for free!
We need to attract more participants. So far, there has just been a slow trickle of people signing up - of course, it was the holiday season, and now that we are all back to work LET'S MAKE THIS A JOINT EFFORT. PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD! Think of all the people you know who might be interested...

A few remarks about questions some people have asked:
  • It is true that in some countries the deadline is later than January 15 for grants for the conference. However, last year in Germany (where there was a rolling deadline, six weeks prior to the event), the money was finished just 6 weeks into the year!!! I recommend you apply as soon as possible!
  • There are no grants for the GA (July 4-6). The GA is a constitutional meeting of the association GEN-Europe and not an educational activity. There can be no Grundtvig funding for this. There will be travel refunds, same as usual.
  • If you have had a grant last year, in most countries you won't be eligible again this year. Check with your National Agency - and get someone else from your community to apply for a grant: would there be no one interested in participating for free???
Best wishes to all of you from a beautiful sunny winter day with ice and snow in Sieben Linden!

In community,

Ulrike
