Hi Benj,

As well as our coordination of AoH in Karlskrona, I've been working away on the early stages of my Masters Thesis research around community-scale renewable energy production.

You mentioned a few case studies of communities in Germany who have gone through the process of setting up their own energy systems that might be relevant to include? Be great to receive details so I can follow these up and include your homeland in our research!

If there are people in your networks with specific knowledge of communities initiating renewable energy who might be able to share these case studies with us, I'd really appreciate you forwarding them the message below and our attached proposal.

Many thanks friend,

Kati

Dear colleague,

We are Master’s Students in Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, Sweden beginning our thesis research around community scale renewable energy development.

In our thesis work, we aim to develop a generic guidebook by June 2010 that can be used by any community to support their transition to renewable energy. In our research, we will examine common success factors and barriers to renewables development from the experience of communities in different countries, as well as wider literature and expert input.

We'd very much appreciate your input of case study communities you know of that have established or attempted to establish renewable energy production in their neighborhood, town, or city. If you are able, please provide us with the following information:

Community:
Location:
Contact person for the project and contact details:
Short description of the project (how it was established, renewable energy type):
Location of existing project summaries (website link, journal name):

We are also looking for options for funding from those who would benefit from our research and guidebook for communities, so would appreciate hearing of any possible funding contributions you may know of.

Please contact us at renewablecommunities@gmail.com by February 5 with case studies you can contribute, funding possibilities, or to request further information. A summary of our research proposal is attached with further details.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,

Kati
