hello guys,
I have installed java 7 on my ubuntu machine , when i try ti install nextflow it say installation complete, ut when i run the hello world example it gives me the following error:

Hello,
The very first nextflow is executed, it download the required dependencies from Maven. Is the computer on which you are running it behind a proxy server ?

I think that's the problem.
Try to defined an environment variable that specifies the proxy system properties for the JVM as shown below
export NXF_OPTS='-Dhttp.proxyHost=proxy_server -Dhttps.proxyHost=proxy_server'
Then execute nextflow command again.
Note: if you are not using standard ports you need to specified them in the above variable

Well no. it must be exactly as shown below. You only need to replace "your.host" with the host name of your proxy (without http/https prefix nor port numbers) and use the correct ports of your proxy

Um, it looks strange that you have the same port both for http and https.
However, I would suggest an alternative solution. You can download this self-contained executable. Just follows these instructions:
wget -O nextflow http://www.nextflow.io/releases/v0.14.3/nextflow-0.14.3-all
chmod +x nextflow
./nextflow

Let me know if it works for you.
I've uploaded a snapshot that should solve the problem with the proxy server.
You may want to give it a try doing the following:
wget -O nextflow http://www.nextflow.io/releases/v0.14.4-SNAPSHOT/nextflowchmod +x nextflow
Then you can use it as usual.
It looks for the proxy configuration checking the environment variables: http_proxy and https_proxy (both in lower and upper case).
Let me know if it works for you.
