I'm looking for developers who are interested in collaborating on the NextBus-based website that I've been working on.

This is an unpaid open source project.

I've been working on this site - http://ttcskycam.ca - for over three years now.  It generally works, but I think it needs a lot of improvement if it's going to have a hope of being useful to a wide audience.  Working on it myself has been going slower than I would like.  So I figured I would post on this group to see if anyone is interested in joining me.

Some of the significant challenges ahead include:

- Modify the routes recommended to the user based on time of day, as routes go in and out of service (eg. rush hour routes, late-night routes.)

- Modify the routes recommended to the user based on recent traffic conditions.

- Make animation smoother, particularly on older phones.

- Figure out how to show overlapping routes, which could be running at very different speeds, without confusing the user.  (eg. regular 41 Keele routes vs. the 41E Keele Express)

- Improve performance so that all TTC routes can be supported, and updated every minute, without an excessive server bill.

- Automatically update the website's route geometry based on updates from NextBus data (i.e. "routeconfig").

It's written in Python.  The code is here: https://bitbucket.org/danieltripp/ttcskycam and a video I made to explain the site is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7X3TV_hPbg

Get in touch if you're interested or have any questions.

- Dan

Note that this website is specific to the TTC (Toronto) but if anyone can think of how to generalize it to other cities, then great!
