Marcus L. White Jr. was an energetic one-year-old who loved music and dancing. On May 21, 2013, Baby Marcus, along with his two aunts enjoyed a picnic on a spring day. That is, until gunmen opened fire in broad daylight; killing 15 month old Marcus and injuring his two aunts. Despite the time of day and the number of people in the vicinity of the homicide, no witnesses have come forward; a necessary action in order to make an arrest in this case. A coalition group, led by Larry Darnell Davis Sr. of the Coalition for Father Families, has been meeting on Thursdays weekly since August 2013 and holding awareness events every two Saturdays and will continue to act until justice is served for Marcus and the senseless gun violence subsides in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area. The purpose of these actions are to create awareness around Baby Marcus' homicide. Also, to show support and unity within our communities and with our police departments. Join us on February 18, 2014, as we celebrate a City Council proclamation naming February 19th as “Marcus White Jr. Day.” Because Baby Marcus would have turned 2 years old, had he not been gunned down tragically and senselessly last Spring, this year February 19th will be a day dedicated to children playing safely in all of our communities. The proclamation will be presented by Council President Bruce Kraus at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers on the 5th Floor of the City-County Building downtown (414 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219). Keep him alive and help end gun violence! #NoJusticeNoPeace #JusticeForBabyMarcus
