NEXT Leaders Alumni:

I hope you are all well.  We at Coro are about to complete programming for the 3rd cohort of Coro's NEXT Neighborhood Leaders program.  As you know, we began in the Hill in 2010, then moved to the Northside in 2012, and have been working in South Pittsburgh for the past year or so.  The current NEXT Leaders in South Pittsburgh are planning a closing event related to their work in the community.  We would love to have you participate in this community dialogue to be held on October 18, 11am-1:45pm, at the Mt Oliver Fire Hall.  The event is open to the public and intended to foster collaboration, spark new engagement, and bring positive publicity to South Pittsburgh.  For more information and to register, please click this link.  We hope to see you there.

Thanks so much for your consideration.

Michael

Good Afternoon,

An opportunity to be a volunteer moderator was passed along to us by Next Neighborhood South Pittsburgh Alumni, Alex Pazuchanics.  If you are interested, please see the contact information below.

Volunteer Moderators Needed for Deliberative Community Forums on the City’s 2016 Capital Budget

This year, the City of Pittsburgh will hold deliberative community forums to provide a more robust way for residents to provide input on the 2016 Capital Budget. At these forums, residents will learn about the budgeting process as they engage with each other, community leaders, and city officials. Small-group discussions facilitated by trained moderators are a key component of deliberative forums. The Art of Democracy is seeking people with facilitation experience to volunteer as moderators for these forums. Volunteers who have not participated in previous deliberative forums will receive free training. The overall time commitment for the training and one forum is 4 hours.

Deliberative Community Forums draw on the principles and practices of Deliberative Democracy to create opportunities for informed and inclusive public engagement. The Art of Democracy and the Program for Deliberative Democracy have been helping the City realize its commitment to making Pittsburgh a national center of Deliberative Democracy; over the last year, deliberative forums have been used to gather public input on selecting the new police chief and developing the City’s Climate Action Plan.
