New Yorkers know that the city used to be much less secure, than it is
in the last few years. Some people say it's because of mayor Rudolf
Giuliani being very tough on crime, others claim it's a direct
consequence of the era of abortions in the 70's that brought the crime
rate down. I guess every body's right to a certain extent...
New York is much safer now, you can walk through it's streets at night
without having to feel fear creep up your belly. Another aspect of New
being relatively safe - is the New York residents awareness of the
importance of taking security measurements in their own homes and
shops. People seem to understand the easiness of installing all kinds
