Hi NYS cooperators,

The African Heritage Food Co-op is building their first brick and mortar store in Buffalo, adjacent to the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor, and 5 minutes from the Jefferson Avenue TOPS where the mass shooting took place on Saturday.

AHFC has already been in operation for several years as a food delivery service with a food access mission. They're partnering with other organizations and cooperatives right now on distribution to ensure residents have food while the TOPS is closed. If you'd like to support them they accept donations on their website.

Here's more on the cooperative if you are interested:

Hi all,

A follow up FYI if you didn't see it that Governor Hochul announced that $3m of a $50m aid package to Buffalo will go to the bulldout of the African Heritage Food Co-op buildout, which was the cooperative's total project cost.  AHFC has earned it with their good work; it also signals some continuing recognition from NYS of the value of food cooperatives toward food security aims.
