CALL FOR ARTISTS TO APPLY FOR STUDIO SPACE - JOHANNESBURG
Assemblage is pleased to announce its plans to open an artist run centre and studios in Braamfontein or Newtown, Johannesburg. The Assemblage Studios will be a space run by artists for artists and will offer studio spaces and support facilities for artists.
Assemblage is a non-profit organisation which intends for the visual arts community of Johannesburg to connect, to share ideas, information and advice and to collaborate. It provides an inclusive forum where visual art students, graduates and professionals can network. Assemblage encourages production, participation, professionalism and the sharing of resources, knowledge and skills. Through an informative website, peer mentoring groups, workshops, group exhibitions and other collaborative projects, it hopes to contribute and promote artistic innovation, collaboration and a proactive vibrancy within Johannesburg.
The Assemblage Studios will be a physical space where these ideas can continue to manifest.
Besides providing studio spaces for artists, Assemblage will also offer peer mentoring group sessions, workshops and professional practice training at their studios. The space will be a place for artists to network, collaborate and innovate. Other activities that will be held at the studios will include group exhibitions, open studio events and art talks.
Studios will range in size from 15 - 30m2 and will be priced from R800 - R2000 per month. Rent will include water, lights, security and Internet access.
