Meeting with designers

Hi Guys
thanks for the meeting today, i think we are well on track for the final push.
just to clarify a few points that arose today.

We have raised 25000 - which is a huge improvement from the 15000 of newwork11
we still need to account for 4000 - which is most likely from buyers not paying from the first auction. naadira and mbali will audit our account and books to find this.
we will put these funds raised towards catalog and exhibition.
we will request further financial assistance from the division - this will be put on the agenda for the next budget meeting.
we have decided to work with dolph and ludgren (jessie and adrian)
they will be tasked with conceptualizing, designing and printing the catalog.
we did not discuss collateral deisgn work that will be required - i.e posters, post cards but i think it would be a good idea to get them to do this if possible. it would make the entire project more coherent.
jesse and adrian will meet at least once with each student in their studios.
from this meeting they will get a sense of your space, your process and your work.
they will then use this as well as material provided by students to design the catalog
most of the images are pauls - however any images that are not pauls need to be clearly marked - so we can credit the photographer.
we will get a mock up of their ideas - direction, concept, look feel, paper stock etc (+/- end sep/early oct)
we would look at a prototype (mid october)
we print the final run around the 20th of october.
Jesse and adrian will propose a printer get quotes
they will also work with the printer in delivering the final catalog.
I will manage this process with the help of naadira.

WAM

the wits art museum has not confirmed a space
we proposed the basement gallery or the gertrude posal gallery.
if these spaces are not available then we would have to consider if WAM is appropriate for the grad show.
Leigh said that she would revert to us by the end of the week after consulting with the WAM directors.
she will advise on what costs they can cover, and what we need to be responsible for.

I think that covers it from todays meeting.

a few points to consider for the exhibition:

the convention thus far has been to get the staff to select the work for the exhibition from the exam, this will include the input of your tutor who will have a more detailed vantage point on your work.
i will consult with you on how this selection was made, and look at ways in which we can make the best use of the space.
I will work with you to curate the space.
remember the show will be a group show, which means that you will not be able to show your entire oeuvre - it is an abbreviated representation of your larger process.
IMPORTANT: you may wish to invite people to your exams. this has been done before and is totally fine
EXCEPT: YOU MUST ADVERTISE THIS AS EXAM WORK - IT CANNOT BE CALLED THE GRADUATE SHOW.
this is important, as we have ONE graduate show. your exam work, is your exam work and must be called such in order to not confuse audiences in our messaging.
