As a part of the working group of the National Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Coalition, we are being asked to review 2 recommendations documents (one for Congress and one for the Administration) of the coalition that is currently being drafted.
As a reminder, we first produced
these documents in 2011 and have begun the practice of refreshing them every
two years to coincide with the new Congress.
They are intended to provide an overview of consensus policy
recommendations from this coalition for use in communicating with the Hill, the
Administration, the media and the public.
First update is to the "Recommendations to Congress" document, attached.
I am directing your attention to page 7-8, the section entitled, "Improve School Safety and Reduce Exclusionary Disciplinary Practices." Please also review page 16m "Increase Access to Education..."
For both, please take a look at the language and offer any substantive suggestions to me by COB Monday 2/2. I will forward these along to Jill, who is working on the master document.
Thanks!
Ashley
