November 2009
While they’re a wonderful time of the year, the holidays sometimes can seem so rushed, so commercialized and let’s face it, so expensive. It can be difficult to find a family activity everyone can enjoy, without emptying out your wallet.
Grace Point church in Newtown has the perfect alternative to remind harried families what the season is really about. For the third consecutive year, Grace Point is opening open its doors to offer the community a fun, family-oriented celebration of the season. And best of all, it’s completely free.
One Winter Night, is designed to give families a night to kick back and enjoy the music, food and fun that makes holiday memories. The popular event drew more than 1,200 people in its first year, and hundreds more in 2008.
The event will again feature many popular attractions: festive music, tasty home-baked holiday cookies and hot cocoa, fun family activities, plus a few new twists.
From the seasonal sounds of the Pennsylvania Youth Chorale to the pure enjoyment of toasting smores around a roaring bonfire on a crisp winter evening, One Winter Night offers something for everyone. There will be a brass quartet playing Christmas standards, hayrides and entertainment for the kids, and a live Nativity, complete with petting zoo.
One Winter Night starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 11 and runs until 10 p.m. - visitors can come and go as they please during that time. Grace Point is located at the intersection of Stoopville Road and Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road) in Newtown. There is no charge for admission or any of the activities.
