Due to a break in the Town of Newton’s water main, on Main Street (Route 206) at Liberty Street, the Department of Environmental Protection has determined that a potential or actual threat to the quality of water being provided currently exists.  Therefore, until further notice, tap water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute and allowed to cool before using for consumption, drinking, ice cubes, the washing of vegetables and fruit, and for brushing teeth.  Please continue to boil the water until you are notified the water quality is acceptable.

The following locations are effected: Main Street (Route206) from Church Street to Madison Street,  Halsted Street from Route 206 to Madison Street, Elm Street and Maple Avenue.
