On 12/29/10 at 1:16a.m., Newton Police were present at 96 Main Street
investigating an alleged assault when patrols observed 2 hypodermic
syringes within an apartment. A subsequent warrant check on occupants
of the apartment revealed that an active warrant out of New York for a
parole violation existed for an individual named Joseph McGlinch.
McGlinch had initially provided patrols with a false name but upon
being arrested, admitted his true identity after claiming ownership of
the two syringes. Subsequently, he was also found to be in possession
of 31 glassine bags of heroin that were concealed in a plastic
sandwich bag on his person.
As a result, Joseph McGlinch was charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C:36-6 Possession of Hypodermic Syringe
N.J.S. 2C:29-3B (4) Hindering Apprehension
N.J.S. 2C:35-10A(1) Possession, Use or Being Under the Influence of
CDS
McGlinch was processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default
of bail pending an appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
