On 6/16/14 at 1:59p.m., the Newton Police Department received an anonymous complaint that individuals were reportedly smoking marijuana in the rear yard area of a Merriam Avenue residence.
Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Zachary Mason, age 18, of Mason Avenue, Newton for being in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe. Mason also posted $250.00 bail on an active warrant out of Wantage Municipal Court prior to being released on his own recognizance pending a future appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
In addition, a 17year old juvenile was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (glass bong) and was released to a family member pending court.
