On 5/4/17 at 8:58p.m., the Newton Police received a report from S.C.C.C. security regarding a motor vehicle accident in which a vehicle had struck a guardrail near Horton Pond.
Upon arrival, responding officers determined that a 2012 Toyota Camry being operated by Kathleen Ely, age 28, of Hopatcong, N.J. had suffered significant front end damage from the incident.
As a result of the collision, Ely sustained several facial abrasions and was transported to the Newton Medical Center by Newton First Aid Squad before being treated and released.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Kathleen Ely was under the influence and she was charged with the following offenses.
39:4-50 Operating A Motor Vehicle While Under The Influence.
39: 4-97 Careless Driving
Case pending a 5/23/17 appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
Vehicle removed from the scene by D&E Service.
