On 5/15/15 at 1:52a.m., Newton Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a motor vehicle accident on Pine Street.
Upon arrival, responding officers determined that Luke Brenniser, age 21, of Woodridge Court, Newton had traveled east on Pine Street when he left the roadway, drove onto the sidewalk for approximately 100 feet and sideswiped a tree. The vehicle, a 1999 Black Acura TL, then continued in an easterly direction where it struck the street sign for Pine Street and Mason Avenue before coming to rest against a nearby utility pole.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Luke Brenniser was intoxicated and he was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
39:4-50 Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under The Influence
39:4-96 Reckless Driving
39:4-71 Improper Driving on Sidewalk
39:3-29C Failure to Exhibit a Valid Insurance Card
Brenniser had complaints of both head and neck pain and was transported to the Newton Medical Center by the Newton First Aid Squad. Brenniser’s vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene by D&E Service.
Case pending a 5/26/15 appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
