to Newton Police Department Press Group
On 9/23/09 at approximately 2:30p.m., Newton Police responded to the
area of Spring Street in order to investigate a report of a suspicious
male who was approaching people and asking for money.
Upon arrival, patrols located a male later identified to be Conrad
Tell, age, 45, of Jefferson Avenue, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. Subsequent
investigation revealed that Tell had stolen a Dewalt 18 volt cordless
drill belonging to Artesano Iron Works, whose workers were in the
process of renovating a building at 189 Spring Street. Tell had
stolen the drill without the workers knowledge and attempted to
conceal same at a nearby address. Tell was arrested and admitted that
he had stolen the drill and attempted to sell it to people on Spring
Street. Drill which was valued at $190.00 was recovered by police and
returned to its owner.
Tell was processed and released after being charged with theft of
moveable property NJS 2C:20-3a. Case pending an appearance in Newton
Municipal Court.
