I'm going to be helping out in this upcoming light painting class at
LexArt on the evening of May 3rd. This should be a great class if you're
new to light painting and would like to learn some of the basics. I
think it will also be fun for more experienced people since the
instructor, Shehab, will be bringing some pretty interesting light
painting tools that he designed. He was on the team that invented the
Pixel Stick, one of the best light painting tools on the market. He'll
be bringing one of those as well. In addition to being a creative
engineer, he's a very nice guy, and an excellent teacher. He runs
multi-day light painting workshops locally and in Europe.

The class is indoors at LexArt, so there won't be any issues with
weather and there's plenty of parking. For the class, you'll need a
camera and a tripod and preferably a remote trigger release. I have
extra tripods if anyone wants to borrow one. You can also use a
recent-model iPhone for the class with a tripod and the Slow Shutter Cam
app:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/slow-shutter-cam/id357404131

The class is also very reasonably priced. You can check out the details
here:

https://www.lexart.org/event-details/lit-portraits-learn-to-light-paint-with-your-camera-and-iphone-with-shehab-hossain-and-nicole-mordecai

Although the topic of this class is portraits, you'll be learning all
the basic techniques to do any kind of light painting.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Nicole.
