Zips (also Siggies or Geeps) is a slang term in the United States that was especially in use in the early 20th century. It was often used as a derogatory slur by Italian American and Sicilian American mobsters in reference to newer immigrant Sicilian and Italian mafiosi. The mobsters in the US were said to have difficulty understanding the Sicilian dialects of the new immigrants, in which words appeared to "zip" by. Other theories include pejorative uses, such as Sicilians' preference for homemade zip guns. According to another theory, the term is a contraction of a Sicilian slang term for "hicks" or "primitives". The older Sicilian mafiosi of the pre-Prohibition era, known as "Mustache Petes", were also referred to as "zips". They were deposed by American-born mobsters during the Castellammarese War.

With increasing violence and government presence in Italy, Sicilians and Neapolitans alike found positions in the growing drug trafficking market of New York City's Five Families in the early 20th century. The Pizza Connection, a heroin-trafficking operation involving Salvatore Catalano, a capo of the Bonanno crime family, and Gaetano Badalamenti, a Sicilian mafioso, was largely organized by Zips. The Zips were effective because they were unknown in the United States and had no police records. They generally congregated in the Knickerbocker Avenue area.

The younger Sicilian mafiosi became known for their reckless and undisciplined behavior, which gained unwanted attention for New York's homegrown crime families. The Zips had no qualms about murdering people who had been considered off-limits by the American Mafia, such as police officers, judges, and women and children. They were also known for using bombs to kill their targets. Although bombings were commonly used by the Sicilian Mafia, American mafiosi have usually shied away from bombs out of concern that they could put innocent people at risk.[1] Zips were also known to have killed enemies who were already on their deathbeds. In the Sicilian Mafia, when someone is marked for death, that person cannot be allowed to die of natural causes.

The group was tolerated because they earned millions of dollars for the families, specifically the Bonanno and Gambino families. Both Carmine Galante and Carlo Gambino used zips for drug-running and contract killing. Galante's two personal bodyguards, Cesare Bonventre and Baldo Amato, were Zips.

"Lots of people hate him [Galante]... There's only a few people he's close to. And that's mainly the Zips... Those guys are always with him. He brought them over from Sicily, and he uses them for different pieces of work and for dealing all that junk [drugs]. They're as mean as he is. You can't trust those bastard Zips. Nobody can. Except the Old Man."[citation needed]On another occasion, Ruggiero told Pistone, "They hate the American people. They hate the American wiseguys." Bonanno soldier Anthony Mirra told Pistone, "The Zips are clannish and secretive. They are the meanest killers in the business".

We chose this cafe because of positive reviews and we were not disappointed. The breakfast fare is tasty, well executed (no soggy hash browns here!) and the menu offered something for everyone. I had the green Chile and cheese omelet and should I pass through Flagstaff again, I'll dine here again...

I love this type of diner. The food is average - nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about. The staff are exceedingly pleasant, the price is right and there is a lively buzz in the air. It's a great place to dine as your passing through town.

Their burgers and fries are delicious! You can tell that everything, from the burger patty to the veggies to the fries were all very fresh. Nothing was previously cooked or frozen! We had fast friendly service and the atmosphere is cute little vintage diner like. Miz zips is a flagstaff gem!

Fun place. Friendly staff. We ordered three burgers and fries. They cut their own meat here and you can tell. Everything was fresh. Giant ripe tomato slice and real potatoes cut here and fried. Yummy!

To start contributing, first read ZIP 0 which documents the ZIP process. Then clone this repo from GitHub, and start adding your draft ZIP, formatted either as reStructuredText or as Markdown, into the zips/ directory.

For example, if using reStructuredText, use a filename matching zips/draft-*.rst. Use make to check that you are using correct reStructuredText or Markdown syntax, and double-check the generated rendered/draft-*.html file before filing a Pull Request. See here for the project dependencies.

These are works-in-progress, and may never be assigned ZIP numbers if their ideas become obsoleted or abandoned. Do not assume that these drafts will exist in perpetuity; instead assume that they will either move to a numbered ZIP, or be deleted.

If the other party does not use the desktop app to sync the folder in question to their account/device(s) and try to download it via a website , the download of any folder is going to result in a zip file.

In addition, note that, currently, it isn't possible to download folders that contain more than 10,000 files or are larger than 20 GB via the web interface. You can always read more about this here .

You can't download a folder through a browser, and that's nothing to do with Dropbox. Unless you're using a download manager, your web browser only handles single files. To get around that, Dropbox zips the content of a folder into a single file for download. This holds true for any folder you wish to download, whether it's shared or not.
