So I have a Dell optiplex 360, with intel nh82801GB chipset, with 2x2GB ddr2 RAM, with gt730 2gb gddr5 VGA, with intel e5700 CPU. I want upgrade this, wat is the best LGA775 CPU wat is work with my config? Can I put in my computer more RAM for example to 8gb ? I'm not so computer genius , I want upgrade my computer how play games with better performance. :Huh?::Huh?:

82801GB is not a chipset its the ICH 7 sata controller and DDR2 memory controller. There are no meaningful upgrades for a 360 LGA 775 motherboard. You can eek out a bit more using a GDDR5 GT 1030 card which you can use in newer systems. Investing in DDR2 or a Cpu because you think MHz = performance is a waste.

That model is not a candidate for upgrading. It is a 10 old Vista model. Save the money and put it towards a new computer. Optiplex is/was a fine business computer but a poor gaming one. It has a small power supply that cannot run today's video cards.

That isn't a vista computer, windows 10 64 bit run on this computer and it run fine my gt 730.I need just a answer of the original question, thank you. I'm interesting about a intel quad core 9000 serie or at lest 6000 but those are compatible maybe?

Hi again, thank to answers, I read on forums and peoples say how they put quadrons (q6000 series) on optiplex 360. I got a link where I can read how with the new bios update it have 2 intel core 2 quad support. They are q6600 and q6700. Them are much better then the e8000 serie but I don't know how it is true. Have u hear something about this?

I have not had good luck with this. I put a Quad on a similar machine and it ran worse. I think your best cpu will be Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Processor (3.33GHz, 6MB L2 cache, 1333MHz FSB). And it's usually not worth all the upgrading, though it is fun and you may learn some stuff. You may even be able to run 8GB of RAM, but I don't see anyone else who tried it. I did see someone here that Installed the Quad and it worked, but I would not bother. If you are running simple games then you may be okay with the E8600, but I'm not a gamer so won't know for sure which ones you could run. Of course you know how they are running now so that may tell you.

I too have an ancient OptiPlex 360 with a 3.33GHz dual processor E8600 CPU that is maxed out at 4GB. It was given to me by a neighbor and had been stripped of the hard drive. I use it only for Node.js development with VSCode but even with minimal use it is struggling against the 4GB limit. I had wondered if 8GB was an option given the chipset and age. I did find an anecdotal report from someone that 8GB was possible if rare and expensive 2x4GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800MHz LOW DENSITY Desktop Memory is used. If I could get the memory for USD$20 I'd give it a shot but the memory I am finding costs more than the machine is worth. In a dozen years the memory will probably be selling for $1 a DIMM but I will have had several newer computers since then.

The components are expensive, you will not even notice the "upgrade" and you may spend more than it costs for a newer refurb Dell Optiplex. Recently Dell had a 40% off sale where you could get 4th-Gen i5 quads (like a world faster than yours) for less than $150.

Do not sink another penny into your current system, and just use it as-is, while saving every penny for a newer one. Whatever cash you sink into a system this old is 100% wasted - I guarantee it. It's just an illusion that will cost you a lot of wasted money.
