Sending an Invoice from Pastel Express via Email, opens Thunderbird but not a new compose with the invoice attached. All Thunderbird and Windows Default mailing settings have been checked and are correct. We only get a message saying address or settings are incorrect.Windows 10 and Latest download of Thunderbird.

When you ran the TB installer, did you set TB as default email client, and then restart the computer at the end of the setup, without starting TB? Others have manged to make it work with Pastel, such as reported here.

Thank you, I did forget to restart the computer, so I have run the whole procedure again and I have gone through the info and steps mentioned in the link, but still no luck.I am of the opinion that Pastel and MS are in cahoots forcing people to use Outlook.Should my client be forced to use Outlook it will mean an additional cost, during these hard times and after having had their equipment stolen. So any more ideas to try will be most welcome.

Thank you for all this additional info, but this has been checked by myself and a Pastel Support agent. It has also been established that it does work with Outlook on this clients PC, but she does not have a license and currently cannot afford to purchase MS Office. She has a trial version that was used for the test.

Correction to my last two messages. The procedure provided by :Toad-HallTop 10 Contributor1/23/21, 6:20 AMWas successful, what we did not see initially, was a pop-up window behind Pastel and Thunderbird stating that an app was trying to send email using Thunderbird which we then had to "Allow". This happened a few times until we realised we also had to tick the box "Do not show this message again".We now have a happy client.Thank you Toad-Hall and sfhowes for your assistance.

At this stage Sage Pastel Xpress Start-Up Version 18 is the only software that is not subject to an Annual Licencing Fee (ALF). It might change in the future, but if you purchase the software at this time, Sage cannot enforce an annual licence to its existing client. (if it changes are made in the future, licences will be prospective from the time that it is changed, and will only apply to new sales)

Hi Yes you may but remember then you would not be able to enjoy any new features nor online support for your excisting package should Sage allow you to re register after your initial 12 month term of using the software as purchased outside of the new line of product offerings.

Hi Grant, I am on the Pastel Express Version 12 12.1.1. I have been trying to get hold of Pastel Support since 08:00 this morning to no avail. I just want to change my vat percentage to 15%. I get a recording, not every time I dial the number though, telling me to go to my browser and type in an instruction. She is so quick in giving you the instruction, that I do not have time to write it down and they do not repeat it. Is it possible for you to please e-mail me with the instructions just to change from 14% to 15%. It is so frustrating, I have not been able to do any invoicing today as I need the change.

We are currently running Pastel Partner V14.1.1, but for the VAT update, you need to have V14.2.2.
I have looked at your downloads available, but do not know if you first have to follow all steps building up to your final build.

v18 was updated, but the interface and short cut keys has changed alot, make it very difficult to use, getting intermitten freezes/crashed after v18.2.1 updated. Is there anyway to fix it? especially bring the short cut keys back?

Hi Grant
I am currently running Pastel Partner V14.0.5. I updated to 14.2.1 and want to download V14.2.2, but when I run the update I get the following message:
This installation may require additional dependencies. Without its dependencies, Sage Pastel Accounting Partner Version 14 may not work correctly. Would you like to find the original setup.exe?
When I press yes, there is nothing.
Can you please help?

In Pastel Partner and Xpress V11 you are required to select your Registration Type. This should appear after the welcome screen. Once you have selected the appropriate registration type (as outlined on the screenshot below) click Next.

Please note that a workstation registration will be selected if the computer you are working on is a workstation mapped to the server. A remote server registration type will be used if your server is not running a Windows operating system.

The screen below will prompt you to enter your Serial Number and Registered Name. The country will automatically be selected, based on your Serial Number. Then click Next.

If your computer is connected to the internet, you will automatically be directed to the Pastel Accounting website www.pastel.co.za to follow the prompts and complete the registration process. (refer to screenshot below)

Before completing the registration, ensure that the access code appearing on the web screen matches the access code appearing on your Pastel product by moving the web screen down. (refer to screenshot below)

When you click on complete registration, your access code and registration code will automatically be inserted in your package. If you are not registering for the first time, you will be requested to enter a reason for the registration. (refer to screenshot below).

I am creading PDF files from my pastel accounting. THey are secured and I have ot put a passowrd on how do I fix this so I can load these files on SARS website. SARS will not convert these PDF files due to the Password protection

- How to remove it: Once you have it, open the file in Acrobat, and go to File - Security and select No Security, then enter the password. You'll only be able to do it if there isn't a File-Edit password, too, or if both passwords are the same.

Interestingly, "Unfortunately, you cannot decrypt the PDF files created via Pastel Version 11 and all other Versions that came after Version 11, as this was a requirement from SARS that all PDF files should be encrypted. We do not have a password to use on the encrypted pdf document." -pastel-accounting-south-africa/f/sage-pastel-partner-advantage-sout...

Thank you so much for the help. Its very frustrating that SARS has requested these but you can not upload them on SARS like that so you have to print and rescan to upload to SARS supporting documents.

Patients with disabilities often face medical providers who make inaccurate assumptions about their quality of life that can lead to paternalism and substandard care, according to an essay published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).

"The term 'ableism' is not as well-known as the term 'racism' but it is a concept that is underrecognized in medicine," said essay author Megan Morris, Ph.D., MPH, an associate professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine who focuses on health disparities among those with disabilities. "The health care system is not set up to deal with this population who is at serious risk for experiencing disparities."

Morris's essay, 'Death by Ableism,' was published today in the Perspective section of the NEJM. In it, she vividly chronicles the last days of her Uncle David, who had developmental disabilities and endured routine seizures.

David lived with his aging parents. He was outgoing and friendly, routinely walking the neighborhood, chatting up friends and telling jokes. He loved gin rummy, television sit-coms and especially his niece.

In her essay, Morris detailed the events of December 23, 2016 when she and her parents rushed her uncle, then 54, to the emergency room. He had aspiration pneumonia and problems swallowing. His pneumonia improved but swallowing remained difficult.

With his regular care team gone for the holidays, Morris proposed giving her uncle a temporary nasogastric (NG) tube until they returned. It would deliver nutrition while decreasing the risk of him eating, inhaling food and getting pneumonia again.

The medical team resisted. It would be uncomfortable for him, they said. They suggested he be admitted to hospice with no nutritional support. The family argued against it and left the hospital thinking they had reached an agreement with the doctors.

Within a day, he developed pneumonia. This time Morris and her family reluctantly consented to hospice care. Morris used suction and a sponge to clear the endless drainage and saliva that 'poured from his mouth like quickly moving lava.'

Morris struggled with guilt, feelings that she didn't advocate hard enough for her uncle and the realization that he had suffered countless 'ableist' slights that may have resulted in a premature death.

"I have sat and listened to people's stories for the past decade plus. People with disabilities will go to the doctor and the health team won't look them in the eye," she said. "They make assumptions about their conditions without discussing it with them."
