Splitting, Tiling & Zooming

Longtime followers of this list might recall the suggestion of extending the Hopscotch UI into a tiling window system.  It doesn't seem all that hard - I bet it's a week's work. I create an issue:

Attached to the issue is an Ampleforth document discussing the topic in a bit more detail,. It includes a limited demo and links to some relevant code. Load it into Newspeak  - it not only explains the issue,  it's also a nice example of why live documents are so much better than the usual mainstream approach of dead text.

I'm attaching the document here as well (now imagine a Newspeak based communication tool where I could just transclude this document, and folks could collaborate. It's not far fetched).
