    After being deployed in Afghanistan for the last seven months, a U.S. Air Force doctor returned home to Sacramento, Calif., last week and met his newborn son for the first time.
    Air Force officials have announced the recipients of the 2017 General Larry O. Spencer Innovation Award.

    And the Knights of Columbus of Marshall and the Marshall Rotary Club invite all veterans to the seventh annual Veterans Day breakfast on Friday morning, Nov. 10th, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marshall, Mo. The breakfast is free and will honor those who have served and those currently serving America. Serving will be from 7:15-8:45 a.m., with doors opening at 7 a.m. The program following breakfast will be a presentation of the colors by the Saline County Civil Air Patrol Cadet Color Guard. There will be a recognition of veterans and service organizations. A program of music will be presented by Marshall second graders who will present several patriotic musical songs and will traditionally greet all the veterans present. All veterans are invited to attend.

    Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. David Shulkin delivered the 2017 Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Distinguished Lecture at the Harvard Law School today.
    This was the fourth annual event in the DAV's Distinguished Speaker Series, which provides a forum for national leaders to address the critical issues facing our nation's disabled veterans and to engage in conversation with the local community.
