Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's eldest son will marry a
policeman's daughter here April 13.
Balakrishnan's elder son, Binoy Kodiyeri is a businessman in UAE while his
prospective bride Akhila G. Menon is a house surgeon in Kozhikode Medical
College.
A close aide of the minister told IANS that the minister's wife, a teacher,
and Akhila's mother were classmates.
"It was after a long gap that the two former classmates met and in the
course of their renewed friendship, the proposal came and was settled," said
the minister's aide.
The girl's father has been recently promoted as an assistant sub-inspector
and is posted in Thrissur.
Ever since the marriage was fixed, the minister's family was upset because
rumour mills were abuzz with gossip about the powerful Communist Party of
India (Marxist) leader's son was marrying a "rich businessman's daughter".
