Temple architecture has long occupied a central place in scholarship, with particular attention devoted to peripteral temples, which have recently attracted renewed scholarly interest. The International Colloquium proposes to investigate the transition from the construction of the cella to the eventual addition of the peristasis, a phase that in some cases occurred centuries after the original planning. By focusing on specific topics such as chronology and construction phases, flexibility and adaptations, the dichotomy between completion and failure, as well as materiality, construction techniques, and workforce, the meeting aims to illuminate the complex biographies of peripteral temples.
