The term BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) was created by Gary Kildall[8][9] and first appeared in the CP/M operating system in 1975,[4][5][9][10][11][12] describing the machine-specific part of CP/M loaded during boot time that interfaces directly with the hardware.[5] (A CP/M machine usually has only a simple boot loader in its ROM.)

Then reinstall the GRUB boot loader - boot from the Ubuntu installation media and select Try Ubuntu without installing. Once on the Ubuntu Live desktop execute the following commands :

Repeat Step 1 (reinstall the Windows boot loader) and in case it boots into the Windows system correctly, search for the problem and solve it from within there. If the Windows OS doesn't start successfully, boot from the Windows installation media ... try to solve the issues using the repair options. When this attempt fails too, you'll unfortunately have to reinstall the Windows system.

I have recently discovered this amazing tool that has made installing windows 7 on my countless machines around the office that are used for virus detection & removal so we often wipe & reinstall our machines after a project has been completed to remove any existence of any virus's that may be lingering. Anyways my question is, after putting in the the windows key, removing & adding software from the install DVD we use the DVD to install as a trial & it comes up near the end that states windows is finalizing settings. A black box pops up stating this is not a genuine version of windows yada yada yada. This has caused a few issue's for us. Is there a way to stop the black box prompt from showing up? This is so we can have the DVD's done & issued as suited to each machine without causing concern as something that pops up at the end stating not genuine is currently preventing me from proceeding even though we have legally purchased 38 retail versions of windows 7 & we just want to slipstream the process of reinstalling.

I will start from the beginning. I have bought computer from dell 2 months ago xps-17, lx02x, when I have received it from the first time it was showing errors such as internet explorer stopped working and so on, every 2 minutes... so I have decided to reinstall windows. I have reinstalled windows and was unable to use my original cdkey, so I have tried to install a loader, after that even more problems begun. now I am getting errors as windows protection services has stopped working, when I try to activate I get windows activation client has stopped working and so on. when I checked my slic code there is a bad cd key installed that's why, so I think my slic code is wrong. I have reinstalled windows for I do not know how many times, dell changed hdd because at first we thought it is hardware problems.but nothing helps. I used different versions of windows still no luck, can not get windows defender to start working as well, can not check for anti malicious software with Microsoft tool, well there is more to it. maybe clearing cmos will help?there is these to files attached. but now I am using windows 8 release preview, it crashes not so much, because when I am using win 7 my pc cpu is working high, son sometimes even watching youtube I get lags.thank you for helping me.here are two logsUNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED, DO NOT POST THIS LOG.

Windows pirates figured out how to exploit this hack around the time Windows Vista was launched. The Windows 7 Loader program, which I used on a test system, looks at your PC's BIOS to see whether it contains an ACPI_SLIC table with software licensing information ("markers" for the Windows operating system and the name of the computer maker). If the SLIC table is present, the tool installs the correct product key for your Windows 7 edition along with a digital certificate; the combination mimics a legitimate OEM preinstallation. For systems with a BIOS that doesn't contain the proper SLIC tables (a scenario I didn't test), it uses an alternate boot loader (typically some variant of GRUB) and installs BIOS emulation code to fool the system into thinking your system is a legitimate OEM installation. You can use the one-click installer or select from advanced options to personalize your PC by choosing a particular brand.

The RAID0 configuration of my 2 500GB Hard Drives brought me a lot of problems from day 1. One of the HDD would randomly fail (I am able to hear a different clicking sound when this happens), and the computer would crash. Upon startup, it would ask for a boot device. The Dell startup utility would then only recognize 1 of the drives, but would finish without errors. After a restart or two, all would be fine and windows would boot normally (aside from the usual error recovery screen) without any sign of corrupted data or anything. Like I said, this has been happening form the day my PC arrived, but restarting a couple of times always fixed it. As of now, both HHDD seem to be working fine, the Dell utility recognizes both of them, and does not find errors in any of them, and I can access any directory from the command prompt.

If you do not want to plug the cable in each time you boot the host. You can disable the framebuffer in your boot loader to bypass this message. For UEFI systems you can add video=efifb:off as a kernel parameter. For legacy support, use video=vesafb:off instead or in conjunction. Note that doing this may cause issues with Xorg.

Slicer can be associated with the slicer: custom URL protocol in the operating system or web browser. This is done automatically in the Windows installer and can be set up on other operating systems manually. After this when the user clicks on a slicer://... URL in the web browser, Slicer will start and the slicer.app object emits a signal with the URL that modules can process. The DICOM module processes DICOMweb URLs, but any module can specify additional actions.

Customize the code (replace A, B, C, D with your measurement names) and copy-paste the code into the Python console. This has to be done only once after Slicer is started. Add it to .slicerrc.py file so that it persists even if Slicer is restarted.

Answer: Install the Windows EFI bootloader, bootmgfw.efi on the existing Windows NTFS partition using bcdboot.exe. This program can be executed from the command prompt and is also found in Windows installation media (iso, DVD or usb). The Windows 8 or newer versions of bcdboot.exe are required for exclusive installation of UEFI boot files in an EFI folder (and will also work with Windows 7).

Note : Don't forget to install clover to ESP (EFI Patition ) and , Preferable if you boot from ESP and select USB (windows ) this way UEFI Bios will add entry to Both Bootloader Windows and Clover , otherwise Windows Bootloader will rule over it .. re-installing clover doesn't fix this (in My Situation) ,

i was having a issue with my system i always need to rename cloverx64.efi to bootmgfw to bootclover and i'm totally having new exp with UEFI (renaming alwasy irritate me windows updates take over it )

Good afternoon @fusion71au. I was hoping you or anyone could help me with an issue I'm having.
My goal was to dual boot Windows 7 and Yosemite both in UEFI mode using Clover, with the operating systms on seperate SSD's. I'm a decent PC user, but I'm new to Mac so it took me a little bit to understand the Mac lingo.

I successfully installed OSX Yosemite following various guides (mostly from tonymac), and other sites when I didn't understand something. It took me a approximately 5 hours or so to install Yosemite, but it's been solid ever since. Now, the big issue I'm having is with Windows 7. That's suprising to me because I'm a long time PC user who has built many systems. Long story short, it's installed in UEFI. It took me a while to figure out Windows Update. Apparently there are issues with that (as stared on many forums). Luckly I found another guide that helped me a lot.

Now, before installing the Windows Updates I was able to successfully boot Windows and Yosemite from Clover. After I installed all of the Windows Updates (that took hours too), and plugged back in the hard drive that contained Yosemite, I could not boot Windows 7 from Clover anymore. The Windows screen would come up, and then it would turn into a black screen. After I I don't know what I did. I even reinstalled Windows 7 (for like the 5th time). This last time i saw that I could still boot Windows 7 if I set it as #1 to boot in bios. If Windows had previously failed to boot from Clover, Windows will give me an error screen, but when i choose to "Launch Windows Normally" it launches with no problems. I think something happend with the Clover bootloader. I can still boot into Yosemite with Clover. I've searched and searched with no clear answer. Today is day five of me trying to get this to work. I've tried almost everything people suggested with no good results.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate in UEFI mode as per this guide: -mode-usb.html

I installed Yosemite per this guide: Success Guide Yosemite 10.10.1 Clover UEFI Guide - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H

It booted fine from Clover for a while. Once again, I performed a windows update where it had to install 200+ updates. It seems like right after that, it would not boot from Clover anymore. OS X Yoesmite still boots, and Windows will boot if I choose it in the bios, but not in Clover. I even reinstalled the EFI boot file because I thought the update may have corrupted it.
