Domino Cloud is a central connection point between devices, allowing operators to use coding equipment as part of a singular intelligent factory operation. Connecting factory equipment to the Domino Cloud gives manufacturers 24/7 access to information on production line efficiencies, printer statuses and so much more. The Domino Cloud differs from traditional wide area networks (WAN), in that computing power and storage can flex in real time to the needs of the consumer, allowing for spikes in production and resource-intensive operations to be managed effectively.
The Lotus Domino connector uses the Lotus Notes client to communicate with Lotus Domino Server. As a consequence of this dependency, a supported Lotus Notes Client must be installed on the synchronization server. The communication between the client and the server is implemented through the Lotus Notes .NET Interop (Interop.domino.dll) interface. This interface facilitates the communication between the Microsoft.NET platform and Lotus Notes client and supports access to Lotus Domino documents and views. For delta import, it is also possible that the C++ native interface is used (depending on the selected delta import method).
A Resource is another type of a database in Lotus Domino. Resources can be conference rooms with various types of equipment, such as projectors. There are subtypes of resources supported by Lotus Domino connector that are defined by the Resource Type attribute:
For more information on setting up of Resource Reservation database, see Setting up the Resource Reservations database, previously at -01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSKTMJ_8.0.1/com.ibm.help.domino.admin.doc/DOC/H_SETTING_UP_THE_RESOURCE_RESERVATIONS_DATABASE.html.
Create, Update, and Delete Resources
The Create, Update, and Delete operations are performed by the Lotus Domino connector in the Resource Reservation database. Resources are created as documents in Names.nsf (that is, the primary address book). For more information about editing and deleting Resources, see Editing and deleting Resource documents, previously at _8.5.3/com.ibm.help.domino.admin85.doc/H_EDITING_AND_DELETING_RESOURCE_DOCUMENTS.html.
When a database is designed to receive a mail, a Mail-In Database document is created in Lotus Domino. This document must exist in Domino Directory of every server that stores a copy of the database. For a detailed description about creating a mail-in database document, see Creating a Mail-In Database document, previously at _8.5.3/com.ibm.help.domino.admin85.doc/H_CREATING_A_MAILIN_DATABASE_DOCUMENT_FOR_A_NEW_DATABASE_OVERVIEW.html.
The Domino Connector relies on the feature Directory Assistance to be able to find the secondary address books. If the secondary address books are missing, verify if Directory Assistance, previously at _8.5.3/com.ibm.help.domino.admin85.doc/H_ABOUT_DIRECTORY_ASSISTANCE.html has been enabled and configured on the Domino Server.
