GAZA, April 3 (UPI) - Leaders of the Hamas Islamic resistance
movement have announced they plan to carry out attacks against Israel to
avenge the death of a Hamas militant in an explosion Sunday.
The Hamas has accused the Israeli intelligence security apparatus,
known as the Shin Bet, of assassinating Muhye Dein Sherif.
Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and his security leaders
have denied Israeli involvement in the killing. Netanyahu told Israeli
radio that Hamas wants to create an excuse to resume its attacks against
Israel.
At a rally in Gaza attended by thousands to commemorate Sherif, the
Hamas armed wing Izel Dein Al Kassam distributed a pamphlet that said
Hamas will attack ``Zionists targets.''
Hamas senior leaders, reading the leaflet in public, said this time
the attacks will be not only against targets in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem,
but that it will also hit targets and interests of ``Zionists'' around
the world.
Hamas spokesman Adbel Aziz Ranteesi said the Israelis are lying,
adding that in the past, ``They have denied killing Hamas figures, but
at the end it was proven that they were involved.''
Ranteesi said, ``They (Israelis) may not kill him directly, but by
their tools and agents.''
Hamas leader Ismaeal Haneya said: ``We are not only saying words or
giving promises, we mean what we say and we do what we say. Our reaction
will not be only by saying poetry for the blood of the martyrs, the
reaction will be stronger than that.''
