HSE PUBLISHES NEW SAFETY LAW LEAFLET FOR THE OFFSHORE INDUSTRY
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has published a free leaflet
which addresses some of the most frequently asked questions about
offshore health and safety law. Using a question and answer format,
the leaflet gives a broad overview of the new offshore regime and
includes a list of the key pieces of legislation and relevant
guidance published by HSE.
HSE's Director of Safety Policy, Clive Norris, said: "This leaflet,
appearing nearly 10 years after the Piper Alpha disaster, is
particularly significant. It sets out the law in clear and simple
terms, and is aimed at all those who work in the offshore oil and gas
industry. It will be particularly helpful to those who are new to
that sector."
Mr Norris added: "The leaflet has been agreed with employers and
trades unions in the industry who have all co-operated fully in
introducing a whole new legislative regime offshore, which has now
been largely completed."
Single copies of 'Offshore health and safety legislation - your
questions answered' (Ref: INDG274) are available free from: HSE
